TOURISTS FROM BRAZIL REGISTERED 106 % INCREASE LAST YEAR

Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), first time held the Dubai Road Shows in Brazil with an aim to enhance the general awareness about the Dubai attractions and facilities for the tourists from the region.

Brazil is a promising market as the number of tourists from this country rose by 106 % last year. Each of the two shows were attended by around 150 participants mainly tour operators, hotel and allied industry representatives.

The first show held last week at Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo with 29 Co-participants. The road shows were organized by DTCM with co-sponsorship of Alpha Tours and Atlantic the Palm.

A big delegation from DTCM included Mr. Eyad Ali Abdul Rahman, Executive Director, Media Relations Division, Acting Director, Business Development, Mr. Hamad Bin Mejren, Director Missions, Mr. Saleh Al Geziry, Director Overseas Promotions, Mr. Mohammed Al Muhairi, Officer, Overseas Promotions participated in the road shows.

Mr. Eyad Ali Abdul Rahman welcoming the UAE Ambassador in Brazil, his Excellency Yousaf Al Osaimi and other participants, said that the Brazil is emerging as potential and promising market for Dubai. He said the tourists from Brazil registered some 106 % increase last year over the previous year.

He hoped that the number would go further up in the coming years, which was also evident from the growing interest in Dubai by the local and other tourism promoters and operators. He said the large size of the co-participants also indicated that this market has potential and the tourists from this country would increase further in future.

He said the Dubai is transforming yet into a bigger business, leisure, and conference industry hub and to cater the needs of the growing arrival of tourists in the emirate, massive developmental work is going on. He added the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum put Dubai on a fast track to become the number one business and leisure destination in the world within a shortest possible time.

Aligning with the vision and strategic plan of HH Sheikh Mohammed, DTCM is geared to have 10 million tourists by 2010 and 15 million by the end of 2015, Eyad Abdul Rahman added.

Mr. Hamad Bin Megrim’s presentation on Dubai attractions was received with big applause by the audience who found it impressive and admired the way it was conducted.

Capt. Mohammed Al Hamaidi, Director of Entry Permission, Ministry of Interior Naturalization & Residency Administration- Dubai informed the participants that it has been decided that any tour operator or hotel would get the tourist visa instantly on submission of the application for a visa.

Commenting on the decision, Eyad Ali Abdul Rahman said it is very good decision and would be encouraging for the tourists and the tour operators.
