
The largest hand-sailed sailing ship ever built, Sea Cloud Hussar will sail in the Arabian Gulf using Dubai harbour as a hub to bring visitors to Dubai, Oman and Qatar.
The new addition to legendary luxury sailing yachts Sea Cloud and Sea Cloud 2 being built at Spanish shipyard will be completed in September 2009 and start sailing from winter cruise season January to April, 2010.
The Sea Cloud Cruises announced this during the launch of Sea Cloud Programs for 2009 in a press conferences held in Hamburg which was headed by Awadh Al Ketbi, Executive Director Cruise Terminal, Dubai. There were two other press conferences at Dusseldorf and Frankfurt (Germany) for the purpose and all of them were sponsored by the DTCM.
The Sea Cloud Hussar will operate on Dubai - Oman - Muscat-Fujairah- Dubai and Dubai-Doha-Bahrain-Abu Dhabi- Dubai cruise routes.
Awadh Al Ketbi said, “Dubai is expanding its cruises facilities and the infrastructure in order to offer excellent services to luxury products like Sea Cloud Hussar. We are happy to welcome the very excellent new product”.
He maintained that it is a big success for DTCM to attract Sea Cloud Company which is a big name in Sea cruising and would play a supportive role in promotion of tourism in general and cruise tourism in particular.
The 136 meter long Sea Cloud Hussar with a capacity of 136 passengers with 69 superior luxury cabins to be cared by 90 crew members, will have 3 sails of some 4500 square meters area.
Mr. Al Ketbi said that 30 % of the program was sold out during the press conference. He also announced that the Dubai Cruise Terminal would throw a befitting welcome party on the launch of the cruise operation by the Sea Cloud Hussar in January next.
